Yoga is a journey of life. Such a path is complex but not difficult to follow. The ancient ones knew how to perform Yoga without any distractions. Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual activity which affects the mind, body and emotion.
Think about it…. let’s go back to a few years ago when very few people knew about it. It is common knowledge that Yoga is only a spiritual activity, and there is some magic to it. People also think that the saffron colour relates to Yoga. In my opinion, it is not the case. The saffron colour means purity and renunciation. It also implies adventure, bravery, and courage. People who wear this colour are very respectful. Yoga also has many properties similar to this colour; That is why it is possible to imagine that it relates to Yoga, but when talking about Yoga, it is more important to know what it means.
Yoga simply means unification (to join). It can also mean to engage or involve oneself in any work or activity so profoundly that you lose awareness of your surrounding or forget who you are while doing it. We can describe such a connection in two ways.
From a spiritual point of view, Yoga is the union of the soul with divine power. The union of consciousness with Maha Prana (the divine soul). The union of Kundalini Shakti with Bindu. The union of Mooladhara Chakra (Root Chakra) with Sahasratahara Chakra (Crown Chakra).
It is written in the famous Sanskrit text ”Amarkosh” (i.e.)
II योग: सन्नहनोपाय: ध्यान संगति युक्तिषु II
“Yoga is a technique of meditation.”
Through concentration, meditation is attained; through the path of meditation, one reaches samadhi. So, it is a technique that focuses the mind through concentration. Here mind and meditation unite together, leading to the path of spiritual awareness. Therefore, the union of mind and meditation is called Yoga.
Yoga of body and mind leads to Yama, Niyama, Asana, and Pranayama which is further explained in a physical way. Yoga of mind and soul leads to Dhyan and Dharana, and the Yoga of soul and supreme power leads to samadhi, attaining and embracing the divine energy with all the completeness is known as Kaivalya or Moksha.
Two things are really important when any task is worked upon. Firstly, the person who is performing the task and the task itself. To ensure for the task is successful, the task performer must do the job with all the attention. Here the union of body and mind is called Yoga. If only the body is used while doing the work, then the outcome will never be good without putting any mind or attention. Try connecting the body and mind, then see the miracle it can bring to the work. You will achieve your destination effortlessly.
A person’s day is filled with different activities, and most of their life is simply busy with maintaining the health of their body and performing the daily chores like cleaning their house etc. if the task is not done correctly or without attention, the results will be visible immediately. Diseases will come to them unnecessarily and It will only make their life difficult, am I right?
In simple language, it can be said that the harmony of two or more elements is called Yoga. For example, in Ayurveda, obtaining different herbs to combine an ayurvedic medicine is called herbal Yoga. Cricket players playing as a team are also known as the Yoga of team players. The balance of social and personal life created between an ideal husband and wife is known as the Yoga of married life.
The word Yoga has not been translated into any other language. But the world has accepted it like वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम (Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which means the earth is family). Chanting the word yoga gives peace to the soul and the mind attains Nirvanagati. All the turmoil in the body, countless thoughts, disorders, anger and dissatisfaction seem to calm down in an instant.
The human mind is like a restless monkey. Thousands of thoughts come to it within a minute, which also determines a person’s body language. The tendency of these thoughts is so strong that it is almost impossible to get rid of them. But, through the pranayama which is an essential part of Yoga, the thoughts are controlled and the mind reaches eternal bliss.
